Let It
Snow, Let It Snow
December, 1998
Dear Dancers,
It's Christmastime in the city! The tree in Rockefeller Center has been officially lit and
the store windows are merrily decked out. But there's no snow in sight. Temperatures have
ranged from balmy to downright summery, hitting 74º in Central Park a few days ago. This
week has been a little nippier, but a White Christmas still seems like a remote
possibility. The unseasonable weather notwithstanding, though, all the usual festivities
are well under way and there's a distinct feeling of cheer and good will in the air. Yes,
everyone's bustling around doing last minute shopping and going to party after party, but
New Yorkers seem to thrive on the hectic pace.
Speaking of hectic, I don't have time to write a long letter this month, but I'll make up
for that with a cybergift which you're allowed to open before Christmas. It's a new web
site from the New York Times devoted exclusively to things to do and places to go in this
amazing cultural mecca. Find out about the Rockettes, the New York City Ballet
"Nutcracker," Handel's "Messiah," and much more at http://www.nytoday.com. You'll have fun exploring the
site whether you're planning a trip to NYC or not!
If you do come to town to take class during the winter break, stop by STEPS and give me a
wave!
May visions of Sugar Plum Fairies dance in your head. And may 1999 be a year full of
dancing dreams come true.
