Insight 10 is about the quality of inspiration
a teacher brings into the classroom day-in and day-out. In this world of many pressures it
is easy to let one's ability to create wonder and excitement for others to fade and
falter; an ability that always needs to be 'farmed and weeded', nurtured and renewed. One
day a student of yours may say this about you...
| Had it not been for you, I should have remained
what I was when we first met, a prejudiced, narrow-minded being, with contracted
sympathies and false knowledge, wasting my life on obsolete trifles, and utterly
insensible to the privilege of living in this wondrous age of change and progress. Benjamin Disraeli
(1804-81) English statesman |
You know that some teacher, some friend
or guide, must have kept their ability to create wonder and excitement well tended. It is
our natural inclination to create, and in this world creation is the supreme
'field of action' for artists and teachers.
