I'm often asked why I continue to write books and education articles for dancers. Twenty years ago I started my dance career as a professional. I made a lot of mistakes. That didn't bother me but what does bother me is dancers are making the same mistakes today. Many of us more mature dancers (I just don't like to say older) have a great deal of knowledge to share but word of mouth just isn't effective enough. So, I decided to write. I feel if dancers today make fewer mistakes by being informed, they will have a better chance of landing a job. Put a few successful runs together and they just might have a career. There are few things in life as wonderful as dancing and being paid for it. Dancing…For A Living was born.

Today, I work as an actor in Los Angeles. I host The Rainbow Connection, I judge for StarPower and others and I teach at Universities and private studios but I rarely dance professionally anymore. One of the things I really miss about professional dancing is the story telling. Sitting around with a group of dancers and talking about what happened in this show or that show. The dance community is so small and everyone knows or has worked with the people you know. Laughing, joking and talking about dance with other dancers is almost as fun as dancing itself. So, to tell you how the books got started, I'm going to tell you a story. A dance story.
