he last thing this web site needs is editorial on the state of the dance world. Instead I'll focus on whatever happens to motive the writer in me.

Expect to find a strange mix of dance, technology, current events, kids, health, and maybe a UFO or two. Just kidding on the last bit, but do keep an open mind on what you'll find within these dance pages.

Since starting this site back in September 1996 we've made many friends, have encouraged untold numbers of people to try dance, have entertained, and hopefully informed.

As you'll likely conclude from this section and from the web site, dance and technology are my two favorite topics. Not just using technology to address the needs of dance, but using technology to promote dance and using dance to promote technology.

Come again? Dance to promote technology? Absolutely! By focusing on the topic of dance, on the message rather than the medium, and on the social interests of our audience we encourage dancers to dip a toe into the large technology infrastructure that can clearly educate and employ dancers by the score.

With one parent a ballerina, the other a helicopter pilot, combining art and technology is probably genetically based for DanceArt.com creator David M. Wilson.

Initially his BS in Computer Science was put to work at the US Treasury Dept. Later at IBM, American Airlines, and Micrografx he spent far too much time working with IBM's OS/2 and attempting to convince management to move on to other platforms.

Wanting to spreading a little cheer, he took on design and management responsibilities for Hallmark Card Studio and later created much of the user interface for American Greetings CreataCard Plus. These products still kick Microsoft's behind and he is thrilled to have worked with such great development teams.

His interest in dance started as a way to survive the demands of a career in software. When it became an interest far more challenging than pure geekdom, he merged the interests and started this site.
