Jane
Donovan
Jane and husband Simon reside in
Adelaide, Australia. Involved in dance for the last 30 years, she trained in calisthenics,
jazz, classical ballet, acrobatics and gymnastics.
In 1986 Jane began
choreographing and managing her first dance troupe, The Glenelg Golden Girls, to
perform at SANFL football matches. She soon turned her talents to choreographing and
producing state match and grand final day entertainment.
In 1988 Jane commenced employment at the newly opened Adelaide Convention Centre as
Production and Operations Assistant that eventually saw her producing themed events and
opening ceremonies for the Conference and Convention industry.
In 1991 she was appointed Manager/Choreographer of the Dynamix Sixer Girls, a
troupe of dancers who perform at the Adelaide 36ers basketball games. This troupe has
become regular performers at various corporate and sporting events.
In 1994 Jane opened her dance school, Just For Fun, the Dance Company. This
school was created to train dancers in commercial performance jazz for the sporting and
special events industries.
Now in its 4th year, the school brags over 100 students; many of them who have
turned professional. The school also is home to the Rebel Rousers who perform at the
Adelaide Giants Baseball matches, as well as the Glenelg Football Club dancers. Just
For Fun employs 1 manager/artistic director, 1 school project officer and 12 casual
teachers.
In 1996 Jane resigned her position at the Adelaide Convention Centre to concentrate on
the development of her company Essential Talent.
Essential Talent
is a producer of sports day, special events and corporate entertainment. Currently holding
contracts to provide entertainment to the Adelaide Rams (Rugby), the Adelaide 36ers
(National Basketball League), Adelaide Giants (National Baseball League), Adelaide
Lighting (Women's National Basketball) and the Glenelg Football Club (South Australian
National Football League). They also provide entertainment to the National Soccer League,
International Swimming Association, Adelaide Superdrome, S.A. Redbacks (National Cricket),
National Netball League (Raverns, Thunderbirds), Major Events Board including
International Gymnastics Competitions, World Bowls Tournament and Australian Formula One
Grand Prix.
Essential Talent
is home to over 100 professional dancers and they also have a booking agency with access
to over 400 local based performing artists. Recent clients include Channel 7 (AM
Adelaide), Channel 10 (the Music Shop), Gerard Industries, Sony Australia, Arthur
Andersons Olympic Launch, Kylie Minogue CD launch, Warner Bros., Balfours, United
Distillers, and many others.
Essential Talent
is based in Gouger Street with offices and a fully equipped "state of the art"
rehearsal studio. The team consists of 2 full-time entertainment consultants, 1 part-time
office assistant with casual staff of 5
entertainment producers, 7 event floor managers/supervisors, 10 choreographers, costume
designers, set/prop designers, audio/lighting technicians and pyrotechnics operators. |
