Catching
Dance In Glass Although he has never taken any dance, Mark has always enjoyed watching ballet and modern dance. One of his favorite movies is the dance cult classic, The Red Shoes. The part of Victoria has always been my dream role and I can only imagine what a magnificent creation she would be if captured in Marks glass.
"My love of doing the ballet in stained glass came quite by accident. In trying to be fully employed at my art, it is important to find subjects that I like, but that are also warmly accepted by the viewing public." In doing so, Mark has chosen to depict some of dances most desirable roles... "To date, I have produced five works depicting the ballet. In all of them, the
subjects were adapted from very old photographs I found while doing research in the
library. I hope that their captivating beauty will result in the opportunity to do a large
scale commission, perhaps depicting the history of ballet or dance, great moments in
dance, or the world's greatest roles. Even smaller commissions would allow me to create
artworks that I know would thrill their owners for a lifetime. Imagine forever capturing a
young dancers first role in stained glass!" Stained Glass Copyright © Mark Stine |
