Catching Dance In Glass
... continuted

All of Mark’s stained glass artworks are one-of-a-kind, so there is a significant amount of time spent drawing each one. Furthermore, the commissioning of custom stained or beveled glass involves the working out of many details such as the degree of privacy desired, light reduction needs, the style of the design, the colors and textures, the budget, installation options, and so on.

"The craftsmanship that I demand of myself requires that I never rush the process. However, in the three decades I have been practicing this craft, I have developed techniques that are both quick and precise."

Mark uses both domestic and imported colored glass. His favorite "style" also incorporates many clear, textured glasses. These are usually in the background of an artwork, such as in the five ballet artworks showcased in DanceArt.com. This allows maximum, uncolored light to filter through the artwork while causing the artwork's subject to stand out.
